Effectively Pricing Your Webinar
There are a few considerations when trying to find the right price for your Webinar. Webinars range in price from being free offerings to costing hundreds of dollars and you need to determine what the right price should be for yours. The starting point for choosing the price of your webinar is determining how much your out of pocket expense is expected to be and comparing it with your expected audience.
If you are having guest speakers on your webinar, you may or may not need to pay them. Many speakers, even those with large followings and extensive experience, will volunteer their time, especially if they will be allowed to provide links to their own sites and services, in addition to yours. You also need to consider the hosting service’s fees. Once you know what your out of pocket expenses are, you can begin to get an idea of how much you will need to charge to make the seminar profitable while keeping it from being so high it alienates people from wanting to attend.
The size of your intended audience is a prime factor in pricing your webinar effectively. Depending upon the hosting service you use, you may be able to accommodate hundreds or even thousands of people on the call. If you have a speaker and topic that can reasonably be expected to draw huge numbers to your webinar, you can charge a lower price and still have a substantial profit. If, on the other hand, you webinar audience will be a smaller crowd, you may need to charge a higher per person rate to cover your expenses and make the webinar profitable.
Obviously, you have to set the price prior to promoting the webinar. You should also consider whether the event is purely instructional or whether you will be using it as a promotional tool for your products and services. If the purpose of the webinar is to sell other products, keep the webinar itself priced affordably. If the webinar IS the product, you can safely charge a much higher rate.
